Long draw lengths in archery: How to choose the right recurve bow
Let's Talk Long Draw Lengths...
25" riser,
27" riser,
72" limbs... 🏹
If your draw length is 30 inches or more, why should you consider a longer bow setup? And how do you choose the right combination?
Let's break it down and help you find the setup that best matches your shooting style and needs.

Having a bow that matches your draw length is essential.
At Uukha, archers with long draw lengths can enjoy the same level of stability and performance as those with more "standard" draw lengths.
That’s why, from 30" and above, we generally recommend a 72" bow - or even a 74" bow in some cases.
And yes, at Uukha, we can build that too! 🏹
Why choose a longer bow (over 70")?
A bow that is properly matched to your AMO draw length will provide several key benefits:
🎯 Better grouping
Greater lateral stability helps improve consistency and tighten your groups.
👌 More comfort
A wider string angle at full draw creates a more comfortable finger hook. Your fingers will thank you!
🏹 A smoother draw cycle
A longer bow is generally smoother and more comfortable for archers with long draw lengths, especially at full draw.
The result?
More comfort, more confidence, and ultimately better performance.
🏹 Are 72" limbs as high-performing as shorter models? At Uukha, absolutely!
Why?
Because our patented Monolith Carbon technology makes it possible.
Thanks to our unique technology and the specific calculations applied to each model, we optimize every limb profile to deliver the same draw-force curve, regardless of limb length.
👉 Whether you have a short or long draw length, shooting experience remains the same:
- Smooth and linear draw cycle
- Progressive increase in draw weight
- Consistent comfort all the way to full draw
And that's not all.
Thanks to the aerospace-grade carbon fibers we use - exceptionally thin yet incredibly strong - we can design 72" limbs without sacrificing the qualities that define Uukha:
⚡ Speed
🎯 Stability
💪 Torsional stiffness
With our XL models, there is no compromise: you get the same performance and the same shooting feel as with shorter limb lengths.
At Uukha, the bow adapts to the archer.
Performance stays exactly the same.

All with a true 27" Riser
At Uukha, nothing is left to chance.
Our 27" riser has been entirely designed, engineered, and optimized to deliver the same qualities as the 25" Xpro3: stability, stiffness, and precision.
(And because performance shouldn’t be a matter of budget, it is offered at exactly the same price as the 25" version!)
🎯 Our recommendation for a 72" Bow
Yes, it is absolutely possible to have a 72" bow using 72" limbs on a 25" riser, with excellent results.
However, for archers with longer draw lengths, we generally recommend a setup combining a 27" riser with 70" limbs.
Why ?
With the same overall bow length, a longer riser provides:
⚖️ Greater stability
🧘 An even calmer feel at full draw
⚡ Increased arrow speed - although with Uukha limbs, you already know speed is part of the package 😉 !
More stability, the same shooting feel, the same performance: that's the real advantage of combining a 27" riser with 70" limbs to create a 72" bow.
So let's challenge some of the common assumptions in our sport 🛑 Don't be afraid to go bigger 😉... with Uukha !
