How to align the limbs of a recurve bow?

8 oct. 2024

There are several steps involved in tuning a recurve bow. In this article, we'll look at one of them: alignment of bow limbs.

It’s crucial to have your string in line with your bow. This ensures symmetry so, the arrow's thrust is straight, giving you much better grouping.

How do you adjust your limb alignment?

It’s really easy to do !

To get started, you’ll need following tools: Beiter limbs line gauge (most commonly used) and your Allen keys.

Place your bow on a stand, making sure not to put any pressure on limbs (they shouldn’t be stressed), and position your beiter limbs line gauge on the limbs: one on the top and one on the bottom.

Uukha's tips: if you have several sets of limbs line gauges, you can position others on limbs for finer adjustment.

Your bow is on its stand, everything is in place: you can align your limbs !

Most risers on market come with an alignment block in the limb pocket. To adjust it, it’s super simple: just turn screws on the riser's sides. The goal is to get the string to pass through the center of the limbs line gauges and the bow, both at top and bottom.

Using UUKHA XPRO 2 riser ? Great choice, of course !
We’ve designed this riser to make this adjustment easier for you: no counter screws, no two screws at top and two at bottom… instead, we’ve made it simpler with just one fine adjustment screw placed asymmetrically at the top and bottom. No loose screws - our system is perfectly adjusted and won’t loosen up due to vibrations. With just two screws to adjust, it couldn’t be easier !
