Carbon: the high-tech material of 21st century
While wood allowed humans to make great strides over centuries, carbon was one of the original materials of industrial revolutions during the 20th century. Research done over past 25 years has turned it into one of the biggest opportunities for future technologies.
It is in this context that Uukha stands out as a specialist in carbon and composite materials.
Did you know ?
A carbon fiber is extremely thin: up to 20 times thinner than... a human hair!
Highly resistant to traction and compression, these fibres are as strong as steel and exceptionally light. They are then assembled into strands of 1,000 (1K), 3,000 (3K), 6,000 (6K), 12,000 (12K), ... filaments: this is called roving. Fibers' direction is critical to provide torsional rigidity required for archery.
These carbon fibres are also highly resistant to both extreme temperatures and elements, making them extremely durable over time. Perfect for all-weather and all-terrain archery!
At Uukha, everything is made from carbon fibre using a jealously guarded secret process: mixed with glass fibre for Sx50, Sx80, Gobi and Selenga or simply 100% carbon fibre for Sx100, Sx+, Uureg, Altai and Xpro2 risers, we are transparent and tell you the percentage of carbon used for all of them!
No wood, no foam, just high-tech material!
