Which string for Uukha U5 carbon limbs?
What string length should I use? What material? How many strands?
These are questions we get asked all the time.
While some answers are already available in our FAQ, here are a few extra ‘workshop tips’ for you!
📏 What string length?
The profile of our limbs requires strings that are slightly longer than standard.
👉 Here are lengths we recommend to achieve the optimal brace height:
Our limb tips are slimmer than most competitors’, so if you make your own strings, don’t hesitate to adjust the loop sizes accordingly:
- 3.5 cm for the top loop
- 3 cm for the bottom loop
🧵 Which material should you choose?
8125 is a proven standard, perfectly suited to our limbs.
SK99 also delivers excellent results. Being thinner than 8125, it allows for more strands to be added, giving extra stability and therefore tighter grouping.
⚡ Since our limbs are already extremely torsion-stiff, this improvement is more of a bonus… not a necessity! 😉
How many strands?
That will depend on the draw weight at your draw length and, of course, on the material used. Here’s a quick breakdown.
Whatever material you choose, we always recommend following manufacturer’s guidelines.
With the right string, you’ll get the very best out of your Uukha carbon limbs! 🎯
