Carbon vs. Aluminum: which bow riser should you choose? | Uukha

🔩 Aluminum: a classic revisited, but not reinvented!

For decades, most bow risers - from beginner to elite level - have been made from 6061 aluminum.

This material remains the standard because it is:

💪 Strong and resistant to deformation, essential for shooting precision

🔨 Easy to machine

🤑 Very affordable, costing around €3 per kilo

But aluminum risers haven’t seen any real revolution in years - and worse, they all look alike today! Maybe the work of a shared designer? 🧐

That’s exactly why we decided to think differently, to think outside the box - to push the limits and offer archers something truly better.

Carbon: the real technological leap

Used in motorsports, aerospace, sailing, racket sports, athletics, and skiing, carbon has become THE reference material whenever lightness, rigidity, strength, and vibration absorption are key.

At Uukha, we understood this over 18 years ago - and it has since become our DNA.

🪶 Lighter: distribute mass exactly where you need it, reduce fatigue, and finally match your bow’s weight to your draw strength.

💪 Stiffer: more torsionally rigid than aluminum, a carbon riser flexes less, delivering better energy transfer and tighter groupings on target.

🫨 Less vibrations: carbon absorbs more vibration than aluminum, offering greater shooting comfort.

Working with carbon requires a more complex process and specific expertise - fiber orientation, layer placement… but our pursuit of your performance and comfort is worth every effort.

Carbon also comes at a much higher cost - 20 to 30 times more expensive than aluminum, and up to 80 times more for some of premium fibers we use.

This cost is not reflected in our retail prices, because we want as many archers as possible to enjoy comfort, pleasure, and performance that carbon delivers.

🧵 And remember: there’s carbon… and then there’s carbon.

Carbon fibers are only 5 to 7 µm thick (10 times finer than a hair), but not all fibers are equal.

Their type, strength, and elongation define their true performance.

At Uukha, each fiber used in our Xpro3 risers and limbs is carefully selected, tested, and validated after several years of R&D, to ensure genuine innovation in every new generation.

✨ Even if aluminum shines… carbon represents performance - and the future of all sports, including archery.
